writing with light - go to homepage

Written with Light is a creative research project by David Harradine (artistic director, Fevered Sleep), exploring the connections between photography, light and performance.

It is a partnership with the University of Winchester, with funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council. Lasting for three years from autumn 2005, the project will lead to a range of new works in performance, installation and writing.

May...

Fevered Sleep's Brilliant, a performance piece about light and darkness for 3 to 5 year old children will be at Sadler's Wells, London from 22 to 24 May and at the Imaginate Festival, Edinburgh from 28 to 31 May, and the Young Vic in July.

See feveredsleep.co.uk for more details.

Also with Fevered Sleep, I'm working on a series of performance pieces that explore different landscapes. This autumn we will be creating and touring The Forest, a new dance/theatre event that starts with the idea of forests as places of mythical and real transformations, where change is constant, and where time is experienced as an endless cycle of disappearance and renewal. We're planning future projects in the series that focus on landscapes of frost, snow and ice.

We are also developing ideas for more incarnations of An Infinite Line, a series of projects that explore the quality of natural light in different places, currently for the North coast of Scotland and for London.

We're in the process of making a book, Invisible Things, which documents, reveals and deconstructs the process of creating An Infinite Line: Brighton, the piece we made for last year's Brighton Festival, and I'm developing ideas for a series of short 16mm films that explore climate change through a metaphor of the dancing body.

Other projects are in development, so there's a lot going on. Come back soon.
